The stating lineup field positions are all mixed up.

  2. AJ says:

    No Oscar Taveras

Number two prospect in all of baseball

    • I have him on the bench for now in a possible Matt Adams-like role (3-4 starts per week). In all likelihood, though, I think it’s good to give him a month or two in AAA since he missed so much time last season. He could also compete with Jon Jay for starting CF job in spring training.

I wouldn’t list him as a projected starter anytime soon unless Matheny or Mozeliak said something that indicated he would win a job.

  3. David Farr says:

I wasn’t sure what the platoon u had in mine for Matt Adams / Shane Robinson with Robinson being only a outfielder (CF mainly). Did you really mean him to be a partner with Peter Bourjos or something else and where does Jon Jay fit the usual CF. Seems like a Bourjos / Jay would be the most logical choice with a R and L platoon. ??? confused ???

    • In that case, Adams to the bench, Craig to 1B and Robinson in RF. I originally was thinking Jay/Bourjos platoon but seems like everyone thinks Bourjos will be the guy and Jay to the bench. With Beltran gone, I think they need to have Adams or Taveras in the lineup or else there is just not enough power. Once Taveras is ready, I think Adams will move back to part-time role.

  4. Rob says:

Kolten Wong and Pete Kozma will not platoon. Mozeliak said the team’s plan is “absolutely” to give Kolten Wong 500 at-bats at second base in 2014.

  5. Rob says:

I also highly doubt that Adams/Robinson really warrants a platoon, based on the fact I’ve read nothing about Robinson getting more at bats this season. Per Bernie Miklasz of St. Louis Post Dispatch last week:

Late in the season Mozeliak made two comments that stood out; the first pretty much signified the end of the Carlos Beltran experience in St. Louis.

“I’m tired of seeing Adams blocked,” Mozeliak said that day.

Later he added, “I’d like to see what Adams could do with 500, 600 plate appearances.”

    • Adams’ numbers vs LHP weren’t good last year but that was a very small sample size. Makes sense to give him a chance to see if he can have success facing them regularly. I’ve made the change.
