I have Bobby Parnell penciled in as the opening closer right now. I see you have him as injured with the neck surgery but the reports are that he will be ready for opening day. Any thoughts??

(9/19/13) Mets pitcher Bobby Parnell, who underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck on Sept. 10, fully expects to be ready for spring training, ESPN New York reports.
“The chances are pretty good. I don’t know the numbers or anything, but everyone has assured me that I will [be ready for spring training],” Parnell told ESPN Thursday. “All the discomfort that I had from the pinched nerve is gone, basically. It’s just soreness from the surgery now. I feel very confident that everything is going to get back to normal
Never trust a player’s timetable, is my rule. But from what I had read, I thought he was questionable for Opening Day. If he’s trying to get back for the start of spring training, I assume his chances for early April are much better than I had anticipated. I’m going to make the change.
Vic Black took a fall from closer to the bottom MR spot. I had of course had Parnell at closer with Black as the top SU guy below Parnell. It looks good anyway as I originally thought of Black as just a AAA minor league prospect picked up from the Pirates. I only had him higher up the list since you had him listed at closer and I defer to your opinion.
I figured as long as he wasn’t projected to close—I had heard he was the top candidate if Parnell wasn’t ready—it would be a better idea to ease him into a higher leverage role.
Justin Turner & Jeremy Hefner were non-tendered so they come off the list and are free agents. I moved Zach Lutz up to take Turner’s spot on the roster for now.
OF Chris Young is not 34. 2014 will be his age-30 season.
Thanks! Forgot that I had two Chris Young’s in the database. It was pulling info from Chris Young, Nationals pitcher.
