Can’t see J.B. Shuck in the minors. Calhoun more likely to be in the minors where he can play everyday than on the bench if Shuck is also still on the team.

  2. I typically lean towards projecting a young player with upside in the minors to play everyday while a guy who is already viewed as a bench player (Shuck) would be more likely to be on the major league team.

But in Calhoun’s case, he’s not that young. He’s already logged a lot of AB’s in AAA and had success. And he was one of the best hitters on the Angels in the 2nd half of last season. I can easily see Scioscia getting him 3-4 starts per week while giving the Pujols, Hamilton, Bourjos and Trumbo days off during the week.

Great job! I like the new format. Amazing to see how quickly this site has developed in only five months.
