Are the Sox seriously going to go with a 30 year old with only 20 mlb PA's as their backup catcher?

I've been waiting all winter for them to sign someone, only to see backup after backup sign elsewhere.

I'd guess that Phegley has a chance, too, but he's probably a good enough prospect where they'd rather have him play everyday in AAA. Bryan Anderson will also be in camp. He has big league experience. Not sure what their thoughts are on Gimenez but maybe the fact that they haven't brought anyone else in tells you that they do like him.

Corrections:

Carter Signed with the Red Sox

Liriano signed with the Pirates, not the white sox.

Santiago will make the roster over Axelrod without a doubt.

Thanks! I kind of like the depth in their bullpen because it would allow Santiago to stay stretched out in a starting role in AAA. He deserves to be in the big league bullpen but contending teams need to have good options ready in case someone is injured. And the White Sox rotation has some injury concerns.
