Reynalds's option was declined. he is no longer an Oriole at the moment.

also, i see ryan Flahrity making the team off the bench.

Reynolds is eligible for arbitration. Not a free agent. Declining his option should save the O's some money as long as he makes less than $11M in arbitration.

How about Flahrity? There is no way he won't make the team out of spring training because the organization likes him and he played well enough where he would be claimed off the rule 5 draft and make that team. In which case he would not be returned to Baltimore.

Got him on there now after Lew Ford was outrighted. Flaherty is no longer eligible for the Rule V draft so he can be optioned to Triple-A in 2013. If they think he's a good fit as a utilityman, he has a good shot to make the team. It's not a given, though. There are only 2 open bench spots that would likely be open for competition.

reynalds is a free agent

Reynolds is not a free agent. Arbitration eligible? Yes. Non-tender candidate? Yes. But as of now, he's still the O's projected starting 1B. Non-tender deadline is 11/30, though. I think they keep him.

Ward is the best guy to help Matt W > he can catch right now for ANY MLB team as a back up.

I've also heard good things. The invite to Arizona Fall League also shows that the O's think highly of him. He's at least 4th on the depth chart in Baltimore behind Teagarden and Esposito right now. Could be in line to help in 2014.

Who on Baltimore's 40 man is out of options?

I know Trayvon Robinson is. Teagarden, Reimold, Alexi Casilla, Pedro Strop, and Troy Patton are as well. I heard Chris Tillman is out of options?

Others that I suspect might be out of options: Exposito, O'Day, Hunter, Navarro, Valencia, Luis Martinez...?

Will make for some interesting battles in ST. Especially, with a few non-roster guys who could threaten to make the team like Daniel Schlereth and Daniel McCutchen.

Jair's contract was reverted to a minor league deal, they are at 40 men.

if reimold isnt on the dl hes not gonna be benched vs righties... he'll play everyday

Jason - MLBDepthCharts.com said... March 10, 2013 at 9:27 AM

You think McLouth or Betemit sits?

Anonymous said... March 12, 2013 at 8:23 AM

i read a quote from buck saying that if reimold cant play the outfield opening day theyd DL him.. assuming he can play left he's gonna play everyday... dh vs righties would be betemit (you have the platoon with valencia right).. cant dh mclouth vs righties because hes the 4th outfielder... if someone got hurt in a game theyd lose the dh the rest the game..

What role do you see Wada taking on?

Anonymous said... March 24, 2013 at 4:37 PM

Is there any chance Steve Pearce DOESN'T make the team? At the very least, he seems to be the best DH option they have right now, far better than Betemit.

Jason - MLBDepthCharts.com said... March 24, 2013 at 8:15 PM

Colby, I think they'll take it slow with Wada considering he doesn't really have a spot waiting for him. Month-long rehab assignment once he is ready and then they'll go from there.

Re: Pearce Not over Betemit, who has a guaranteed contract. Remember that it is spring and Pearce has done well in AAA and in spurts before. But there's a reason he keeps getting let go. No sure thing that he makes the team if everyone is healthy.

Any chance Reimold starts in LF or DH's on a regular basis? Maybe 5 days per week?
