*MLBDepthCharts.com considers any player not on a team's 40-man roster, in AAA, or ranked as a top 10 prospect by Baseball America or top 11 prospect by Baseball Prospectus before the 2012 season as an 'under the radar' player.

Under the Radar Minor League NL Pitching Performance of the Week
LHP Tyler Lyons, Double-A Springfield (STL)

season stats: 3.34 ERA, 29.2 IP, 31 H, 13 BB, 25 K in 6 starts
May 2-May 8: 6 IP, ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 1 start

Shelby Miller, Carlos Martinez, Tyrell Jenkins, Tyler Lyons, Jordan Swagerty. If you follow minor league prospects, you would know to find these pitchers within the top ten of the Cardinals' system. But wait … Lyons shouldn’t be in that list. In fact, he’s not even in the top 30. Fact of the matter is that Lyons has been overshadowed by those top prospects, but has quietly become an effective member of the Double-A rotation in Springfield. He's had back-to-back strong outings with just 2 ER allowed in his last 12 innings.

A 9th Round draft pick in 2010, Lyons was a glimpse on the radar when he threw a no-hitter late last season with the Hi-A Palm Beach Cardinals. After starting his first pro season in the bullpen, he was moved to the rotation in late June where he posted a 7-2 record with a 4.41 ERA and 57 strikeouts over 65.1 innings. The 24 year-old has the stuff to project as mid-rotation starter. With solid command of a two-seam fastball with good run that can hit 94 mph, a decent late-breaking curveball, and a change-up that is becoming his out pitch, look for him to make it to Triple-A Memphis later in the year.

Relief Pitcher of the Week
RHP Rob Wort, Hi-A Potomac (WAS): 1.26 ERA, 14.1 IP, 14 H, 4 BB, 24 K, 2 Sv in 10 appearances; 2.2 IP, 0 ER, H, 0 BB, 7 K, Sv in 2 appearances last week.
