To celebrateour newest weekly feature, 'The Door Is Open', where veteran baseball writer Lisa Winston writes about players who have recently made their major league debut, MLBDC is having a contest. The winner gets a six-month subscription to MLBDC Magazine(value $19.99). If you already have a subscription, the six months will be added to the end of your renewal date. This contest might not be decided that quickly, so feel free to purchase your subscription now and then play for an extra six months.
Here's how it works. There are currently 8 teams 6 teams (CIN, CLE, COL, KC, LAD, MIA, MIN, WAS) who have yet to have a player make his major league debut in 2012. Be careful with the picking the Dodgers as they have a pitcher in their bullpen, Michael Antonini, who would be making his debut the first time he gets in a game. Pick the team who will be last to have a player make his debut (must play in an official game, not just be called up). For the tie-breaker, name the player that will be making their debut and the date they will get in their first major league game.
For example, if you think that the Rockies will be the last team to debut a player, you might select Nolan Arenado on July 15th. If necessary, the player will be the 1st tie-breaker. Closest to the date will be 2nd tie-breaker. I'm almost 100% certain this system is tie-proof. If there is a tie, I'll give each winner a six-month subscription.
The deadline to submit your entry will be on Friday April 27th at 7PM EST. You can submit another entry if the team you pick debuts a player before the deadline.
I'll be keeping you posted throughout the season. Let me know if you have questions.
