Organizational depth being tested early
When Craig returns, does he get Cf starts with Jay to bench?
No. Even if Jay goes to the DL, I'd expect him to bounce around and get his 4-6 starts each week between 1B, 2B, 3B, LF, RF, and maybe CF.
Wait, Jay bounces around or Craig?
Sorry, that wording was confusing. Craig is the super-utilityman that bounces around 4-5 different positions.
With Craig's knee mending I don't really see him bouncing around as much as he did under the TLR regime. With Berkman still ailing, first base is all his. He will also be able to spell Beltran and Holliday in the corner outfield spots and Berk against lefties, but I would bet good money that he doesn't see any time at any position besides those three. The way Matheny has been shuffling the veteran players to give them plenty of rest Craig will get 4 to 5 starts per week, plus being the first bat off the bench when he sits. And I may be dreaming but just one day I want to see Craig in right and beltran in center to see the type of offense juggernaut they could be
Excited to see his name back on the lineup card
Definitely expect him to play primarily at 1B with Berkman out. But with Berkman expected back soon, he's gonna have to get his AB's elsewhere.
Jon Jay has been hitting 2nd with Carp hitting 7th and Beltran has been hitting clean up
Thanks for the heads up!
Filthy lineup with Craig hitting 7th. Have mercy. Forget the AL, Cards can bring an AL lineup everyday in the NL
Mind boggling how awful this bullpen is
