From what I've been reading, it's likely that Sierra starts in AAA. Same goes for McDade.
I'd think so based on age, 2011 performance. But there is currently not much space because of Cooper/Clemens at 1B/DH, Snider/Gose in OF. Nanita is 30 and had good numbers in AAA last season but he's not really a roadblock. If they really wanted to start Sierra in AAA, I can see Nanita on the bench or AA.
Send me a link if you can. If a team says a player will definitely be at a certain level, I'll make changes accordingly. If not, I'll wait until things play out and players are assigned late in camp.
No solid evidence. But he played the full year in AA last season and put up good numbers and he's turning 23. I'd also add in the fact that he's on the 40-man roster, and is with the team in spring training. There are very few batters with the team this spring other than catchers that aren't in AAA. I think Goins and Diaz would be the only others, and McDade depending on where he ends up. McDade also put up big numbers in AA last season, and there's a chance Clemens will play 3B, since we really don't have anyone notable at the position. That would leave the DH/1B for Cooper/McDade. I could be wrong, but that's just what people have been discussing on the blogs.
Hey Jason,
Always fun looking forward to opening day. Thanks for the compilation.
I am in the camp that suspects RF Sierra will start at AAA, creating a terrific OF with LF Snider and CF Gose. He's ready for the move up.
Carreno will join Drabek, Laffey and Beck in the Vegas rotation. He is well suited to starting, despite being primarily (though not solely) seen as a RP at the MLB level. Figueroa probably completes the rotation, until Litsch is back from injury. Don't count out Randy Boone either (when healthy); he looked great last year, until TJ surgery derailed his season.
Love that New Hampshire rotation! With Wojciechowski, Lawrence and Liebel waiting in the wings (in Dunedin), it is great to see a solid trail of starters coming through the system.
Cheers!

Oh, almost forgot...
My guess for the Vegas pen would have Farquhar returning as closer -- with Evan Crawford (who seems to be highly thought of in the organization) and a vet as set-up men.
Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback, David! Sounds good to me. I've had Carreno as a reliever since he pitched well in that role when he came up to the big leagues, and especially going into the offseason before they acquired Santos, Frasor and signing Cordero, Oliver.
In regards to Sierra, I don't think Nanita is standing in his way in order to advance to AAA. One thing I've heard lately is that organizations would actually avoid putting a prospect in an extreme hitters league in an extreme hitters park because they could develop bad habits. Not sure if that would be the case with Sierra but Las Vegas would be a good example of an extreme hitters park.
I'll probably make some adjustments soon. Thanks again!
#BlueJays LaCava said today that 1B Mike McDade and David Cooper are both slated to start the year in Triple-A Las Vegas.Split time at 1B/DH
As per Gregor Chisholm, the Blue Jays MLB.com reporter.
Yeah, I saw the tweet. Not sure how well Clemens can play 3B or any other positions. I'm assuming not very good or else he wouldn't have been moved to 1B. I just put him in AA to change places with McDade.

Thanks! To the rotation he goes.
