We usually see 1 or 2 non-contending teams starting to get it together during this time of the year. While it's a case of too little and too late, the Dodgers (17-11 in August) and Cubs (16-13 in August) are trying to make up for their disappointing seasons while teams like the Marlins (7-20 in August) and Pirates (8-22 in August) continue their free falls. All four playoff spots in the NL are close to being locked up with the Phillies (18-7 in August), Brewers (21-7 in August), Diamondbacks (19-10 in August), and wildcard leading Braves (17-9 in August) all surging going into the final month. The Giants are the one team that can make it interesting but they've fallen to 6 games out in the NL West after going 11-19 in the month.
