*MLBDepthCharts.com considers any player not on a team's 40-man roster, in AAA, or ranked as a top 10 prospect by Baseball America or top 11 prospect by Baseball Prospectus before the 2010 season as an 'under the radar' player.

Under the Radar Minor League NL Pitching Performance of the Week
RHP Tim Crabbe, Hi-A Bakersfield (CIN)

season stats: 6-5, 3.48 ERA, 106 IP, 96 H, 40 BB, 119 K in 24 appearances, 12 starts (HiA/LoA)
August 3-August 9: 1-0, 13 IP, 0 ER, 8 H, 3 BB, 16 K in 2 starts

Some very good outings in the low minors this past week, making it a difficult decision for this week's selection. This gave me an idea to compile a list of pitchers who “almost” made the UTR cut throughout the season, something that I may submit to Jason for an end of the season post. Most of these pitchers would rise to the top of my list mid-week, only to be dismissed by an outstanding outing at the 12th hour. Tyler Lyons’ (Hi-A Palm Beach) no-hitter last night would be a perfect example. Had that been his only showing this week, his name would have appeared at the top of the page. Robert Morey (Lo-A Greensboro) is one of those many hard-luck pitchers that will most definitely make that season's end list. In case you missed last week’s pick, check out the 'Under the Radar' archive. I took an impromptu trip to the Jersey/MD shores and was late getting my submission to Jason upon my return. Tyler Gagnon’s performance this season has been noteworthy and I wanted to be sure the UTR fans were made aware of his body of work of late. This week's pick has nothing to do with my trip to the shore. Crabbe had two solid starts this past week, combining for 13 innings of scoreless ball.

The former 14th round pick out of Westmont College (Calif.) began the season working out the bullpen for the Lo-A Dayton Dragons, seeing a couple of spot starts before a promotion to Hi-A Bakersfield. He found himself in the same situation in Bakersfield, pitching in relief before getting a shot in the rotation. The 23 year-old shows promise with a 95 mph fastball but projects more as a back-of-the-rotation starter or middle reliever. He should, however, continue to climb up the ladder as long as he continues to throw strikes.

Relief Pitcher of the Week
RHP Adam Holland, Rookie Level Danville (ATL): 2.89 ERA, 18.2 IP, 12 H, 5 BB, 32 K in 8 appearances ; 7.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 15 K in 2 appearances over the past week
