*MLBDepthCharts.com considers any player not on a team's 40-man roster, in AAA, or ranked as a top 10 prospect by Baseball America or top 11 prospect by Baseball Prospectus before the 2011 season as an 'under the radar' player.
Under the Radar Minor League NL Hitting Performance of the Week
1B Greg Rohan, Hi-A Daytona (CHC)
season stats: .325 BA, 8 HR, 62 RBI, 25 2B, 30 BB, 54 K, 4 SB in 91 games (HiA/LoA)
July 26-August 2: 9-for-24, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 2 2B, 4 BB
With the trade deadline behind us and the dust finally clearing, it’s common for many to ask, "How has each major league club been impacted"? But fellow UTR writer Jim Brown and I are hard-wired to ask, "How has each minor league organization been impacted with the addition of new prospects?" However, there were a few teams expected to be active movers at the deadline that left many scratching their heads with little or no activity at all. The Cubs are near the top of that list after making just one small deal to trade Kosuke Fukudome to the Indians for two fringe minor leaguers. While there aren't many new minor leaguers in the system, this week's UTR pick, Greg Rohan, is making his presence known down in Hi-A Daytona.
A 2009 draftee out of Kent State, the Cubs felt they got great value in the 21st Round for a career .315 hitter with power and good defensive skills. Rohan struggled to make adjustments and fell victim to better pitching through his first two pro seasons but he seems to have turned the corner in 2011. Starting the year back in Class A Peoria, he batted .314 with 52 RBI to earn a Midwest League All-Star appearance. It was also enough to warrant a promotion to Hi-A Daytona where the 25 year-old has raised his game to an even higher level. In 15 games. the right-handed hitter has a 1.088 OPS. Still old for the league, the Cubs can make up for it by pushing him to Double-A to start 2012 and moving him to Triple-A with the other mid-20's players by mid-season.

SS Ryan Jackson, Double-A Springfield (STL): .282 BA, 9 HR, 59 RBI, 27 2B, 3 3B, 40 BB, 69 K, 2 SB in 106 games; 11-for-32, HR, 8 RBI, 3 2B, 3B, 5 BB in last week
