MLBDepthCharts.com's June All-Stars (NL)

It couldn't have been a worse month for the Florida Marlins, who finished June with a 5-23 record and -47 run differential. To make things worse, they lost 11.5 games in the standings to the Mets, who had only the fourth best month out of the remaining division rivals with a 16-11 record. Ouch.

The Pirates were the story of the NL Central with a division-best 16-11 record, putting them 2 games above .500 and 2 games behind the Cardinals and Brewers for first place. The Cubs (11-18) and Astros (8-19) continue their free fall as we can now safely say those two teams are looking forward to the offseason.

Despite a struggling offense, the Giants maintain a two-game lead in the West after a 17-11 June, while the Rockies and Diamondbacks are still right behind after going 14-13. The Padres, meanwhile, have yet to throw in the towel as they finished the month with four straight wins. I can't say the same about the Dodgers, who finished with a 10-16 record although they do employ the #3 hitter on this month's All-Star team, who might be the best player in the game right now.

No Starlin Castro?

Obviously no room in the starting lineup with the way Reyes is playing and I think he was at least .100 OPS points behind any of the guys on the bench. I'll predict he'll make it in one of the next few months, though.

Alright, but he was just named Player of the Month and named an All-Star. ;)
