The biggest surprise, maybe in all of baseball, made their presence felt in the month of May. The Arizona Diamondbacks tied with the Red Sox for the best record in the month at 19-10 to take a 1/2 game lead in the NL West. A much-improved bullpen gives the team a solid chance as any to stay atop the division. If I had to pick my second biggest surprise, it's that the Rockies were the worst team in baseball in May at 8-21. Things sure can change quickly in this game.
The Braves went 17-11 in the month, best in the NL East, but still trail the Phillies by 4.5 games overall. The NL Central leading Cardinals and the 2nd place Brewers (2.5 games back), meanwhile, are threatening to make it a two-team race after each went 17-12. The Reds fell to 5 games out after a 14-15 month.
And in the race for the team that is furthest out in their respective division race, the Astros and Nationals continued to fall out of contention with 11-17 records in the month. Both might as well start looking ahead to 2012. Without further ado, here are your NL May All-Stars ...

Ryan Ludwick's .314 average and 23 RBI says hello!
Thought he was going to make it but compared to the other guys on the list, he fell a bit short. I'm a Padres fan so if it was a bit closer, my bias would've probably kicked in.
The Fact he did it on the Padres should have pushed him in, he drove in or scored 25.45% of their runs last month.
