This is a long-shot, and thinking way ahead, but I've got to think they don't pick up K-Rod's option for 2012. Any chance they retain Isringhausen in 2012 as a discount closer? OR, any chance they trade K-Rod away mid-season in a dump deal if/when the Mets are out of the race?

It's a vesting option. He has to finish 55 games for the option to vest. He has 11 so far. I think it's a long shot that they let it happen. Doubt they want to pay him $17.5M, even if he has a good year. In that case, they will be looking for a closer in 2012. If Isringhausen stays healthy and has a solid season, he could be in the mix. But I doubt he's the only option given his age and injury history. I think there's a chance they could trade K-Rod but they'd have to pick up a big chunk of his salary. No one would take on that kind of money for two months of him.

Do you have any idea who will start at second base when Wright and Davis both return?

If everyone is healthy and Reyes is not dealt, I don't think there's anyway they can send Tejada down with the way he's hitting. Turner and Murphy would be on the bench. With that said, I really think they'll consider dealing Reyes. Trade value is very high and they should feel comfortable sliding Tejada over to SS if Reyes was dealt.

Really enjoy seeing your Minor League series and stories. As a Mets fan, I've turned a lot of my attention to what's going on in the Minors in hopes of finding a little light at the end of the tunnel. I appreciate websites like this for their thoroughness and constant updating. Keep up the good work!

I appreciate it Guz. The Mets' minor league pages are probably the most updated. It's definitely harder to keep the minor league pages updated when a big name prospect isn't involved in the transaction but I have to give props to Nick Campione (@nymets45) for the minor league Mets updates. He takes care of those pages for me.

Who are prospects in Giants, Tigers, Redsox, and other interested organizations that would be interested in Beltran that the Mets might be able to secure in a trade?

Hope to write about it in more detail later this week but the Tigers have a few pretty good left-handed back-of-the-rotation prospects in Triple-A (Oliver, Wilk, Below, Furbush) that could be moved. Giants have a very good Double-A reliever (Hembree) and a few lefty starters (Surkamp, Runzler, Verdugo) that may appeal to the Mets. The Sox have guys like Weiland, Lavarnway, and Tazawa that could get a deal done. Not top prospects but solid B-level prospects that might be worth a half-season of Beltran.
