The Braves and Dodgers were the class of the National League in May with 20 wins each. While the Braves finally surpassed the Phillies to take the lead in a very tight NL East race, the Dodgers have closed the gap to two games in the NL West behind the surprising Padres. The Reds, led by May All-Stars Johnny Cueto, Jonny Gomes, Brandon Phillips, and Scott Rolen, won 18 games and are in a tie with the Cardinals for the lead in the NL Central. Two teams headed in the opposite direction, the Astros and Diamondbacks, each lost 20 games and are likely to be sellers in the coming weeks.
