*MLBDepthCharts.com considers any player not on a team's 40-man roster or ranked as a top 10 prospect by Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus before the 2009 season as an 'under the radar' player.

Under the Radar Minor League AL Pitching Performance of the Week

RHP Liam Hendriks, Lo-A Beloit (MIN)

season stats: 0-0, 0.00 ERA; 17 IP, 6 H, BB, 20 K

Signed by the Twins as an Amateur Free Agent out of Perth, Australia back in 2007, Hendriks made his full-season debut last season with 11 solid starts (3.51 ERA, 66.2 IP, 73 H, 15 BB, 62 K) for Beloit. Back again in 2010, the 21 year-old might not be there much longer after three consecutive starts where he's been just about unhittable. The right-hander allowed just one hit in each of his first two starts and four hits in his last start without allowing an earned run over 17 IP. More impressively is that he's allowed just one walk and struck out 20 batters. It doesn't get much better than that.

While Hendriks is not related to a former professional baseball player like the other three UTR picks of the week, his athleticism and competitiveness are traits likely passed down from his father, who was an Aussie Rules Football star. Projected to have at least an average fastball with command of four good pitches, Hendriks is a good candidate to show up on many top prospect lists for Minnesota in 2011.

Honorable Mentions

RHP Brayan Villareal, Hi-A Lakeland (DET)
season stats: 1-1, 2.89 ERA; 9.1 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, BB, 17 K

LHP Shaeffer Hall, Lo-A Charleston (NYY)
season stats: 0-0, 0.46 ERA; 19.2 IP, 11 H, 0 BB, 13 K
