Downs was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.

No Jordan Lyles this year?

Jason - MLBDepthCharts.com said... January 3, 2011 at 9:20 AM

Maybe mid-2011 on Lyles but not to start the season. And that's a good sign for the Astros because they have enough good rotation options that they won't have to rush him.

They have the solid pieces put together to be a good team but lack to superstar players that could take them to that level or even close

Their lineup has upside though and their rotation has some dependable arms.

Still probably going to be a long summer but the corner infield spots are going to be interesting to watch

Is Towles on track to make opening day? Is he really the starter? Is he really hitting 2nd? Is this the biggest error at MLB Depth Charts?

It is possible that it could be my biggest error. But he was hitting 2nd a lot during a stretch once it became evident he would be on roster. If Sanchez is SS, he'll likely hit 2nd and Towles and Quintero will split time behind the plate and hit at the bottom of the order. Initially went with Manzella to play everyday at SS once Barmes went down but don't see him hitting 2nd. Had to be creative. Should have a clearer picture soon.
