He is primarily a pitcher since 2010. The Sox weren't going to let their top pitching prospect do both for long.

Think you're missing Daniel Nava and Josh Reddick from Pawtucket, no?

Also, probably more likely they let Kalish start the year in Pawtucket so he's playing rather than ride the pine in Boston as the fifth outfielder.

Like the site.

Hey Chris. Nava and Reddick are listed on the major league page under 'Outside Looking In'. Once they're officially eliminated from the 25-man roster battle, they'll be on the Triple-A roster.

I'm going to substitute McDonald for Kalish on the major league bench. You reminded me that that was something I was considering making a change to. I had read an interview with some club official (forgot who) that made a statement on the outfield and they mentioned Kalish as if he was definitely a part of the group. That may have been before Crawford's signing though. With an all-lefty starting outfield, it makes sense to have two right-handers on the bench with Kalish getting AB's in AAA. Thanks for the feedback!

OK cool, I saw that but didn't realize you didn't list guys in both places.

I think pre-Crawford, Kalish would have been starting in left, but now that the outfield is set and Cameron provides a good 4th OF option, Kalish will almost certainly be with Nava and Reddick in the Pawtucket OF.

Like I said, great stuff!

Lin and Lavarnway are with AA in MLST right now, so they can be moved down. Marin is hurt and won't be assigned to an affiliate to start the year.

Thanks for all the info Chris. Will be getting caught up on the minor league rosters over the next few days. Does soxprospects.com keep updated rosters of all affiliates? Very hard to track, especially if you're trying to do 30 teams like I am. Let me know if you're interested in a link or banner exchange of some kind. They would be a good fit on the two Red Sox minor league pages.
