Unless I'm not seeing it, you're missing Pending: Salty.
Salty will be in AAA. He shows up as 'pending' on that page.

Hey Steve. The rotation order changes often throughout the season because of injuries so I usually try to set up the projection in the order a manager would use his rotation if it were the playoffs. Would you say that Lackey-Beckett-Lester would be the order if the team made the playoffs?

Ellsbury is a better defensive center fielder than Cameron at this stage of each of their careers......Ellsbury if faster with more range and he is our future for the next ten or so years in center.
I do not see Mark Wagner on the opening day roster......i see the sox signing a catcher and bringing Variteck back for another year or two..........if Tek retires or signs somewhere else (which i do not see happening)then they will have Salti be there back up catcher but if not then salti and wagner will play in pawtucket(which I highly see happening on the opening day roster)

The projections on this site are always based on the team's current depth chart. There isn't anyone else ahead of Wagner so he is listed on the projected 25-man roster. That is guaranteed to change. Whether they bring in a starter or backup depends on how they feel about Salty. My guess is that they bring in a veteran to split time with him. Varitek would make sense. Plus, it would be good to see him finish his career in Boston.
I agree.......but how about Lavarnway?.......Its not like they could bring back Victor Martinez anymore or John Buck.
If they could get rid of Cameron then i woould be perfectly happy with a platoon of Kalish and Nava.Then they could go after a corner infielder.

They'll want him to play everyday in the minors. He only has 44 games of experience at Double-A. Could be a late-season call-up, though.

they should also put mike cameron on waivers and if he is not claimed try to trade him for whoever they can get......Russel Martin would take his roster spot and play Bill Hall's role.
I think they'll do better than Okajima. Lots of good bullpen arms out there.
Regarding Cameron, I think they can trade him. He can still hit and play a solid CF. Some potential teams, in my opinion, that may be interested: Braves, Nationals, Dodgers, Marlins (if they're not as comfortable with Coghlan in CF as they are making it seem).
Sounds like Martin would be a full-time catcher if he signed in Boston. Salty would then be on the block or maybe just AAA insurance in case Martin really can't return to his old form.
I see the redsox getting a guy like Xavier Paul.....Paul is young and gould b a backup outfielder

When I wrote 'lots of good bullpen arms out there', I think Crain, Guerrier, Jenks, Feliciano, Peralta, Wood, and Howell were all available. Not anymore but Soriano, Rauch, Wheeler, Gregg, Heilman, Balfour, Rhodes, Fuentes, and Beimel are all out there. Most of those are 7th and 8th inning guys and upgrades to the 2010 version of Okajima.

Moyer would be nice story but the Sox probably don't need him. I doubt anyone signs him to a minor league deal until they see how he recovers. Younger guys coming off of TJ surgery get signed (i.e. Jose Arredondo w/CIN) in the hopes that the player will re-sign with the team the following year but it probably won't happen with a guy who is less likely to be an effective pitcher again.
Don't know that the Sox are looking to move Daisuke or Cameron. They don't really need to mess with their team and go with younger, unproven players. They look like the team to beat in the AL right now so why make changes.

Sox already have good young outfield prospects (Kalish, Reddick). Cameron is better fit on a team with World Series aspirations. Great clubhouse guy. Still good defender and can hit. Sox don't need to trade him for another young outfielder.
Seeing how Max Ramirez is out of options, do you think he has a good chance of making the opening day roster? With Gonzalez, they really don't need a backup 1B (use Youk). Maybe they could have Max learn 3B or RF in the spring. I know that's rushing it, but it could be worth a shot. Thoughts?
Didn't realize he was out of options. Doesn't really cost them anything by claiming him on waivers so even though I don't see a spot for him, he would be protection in case Ortiz or one of the catchers gets hurt before the start of the season. If not, the worse thing that happens is some team claims him off waivers. If not, maybe they can outright him to the minors and keep him in their system for the entire season without him being on the 40-man. Even if he did learn some new positions, he probably won't be very good at them so I'd expect him to keep catching, playing some 1B, and DH'ing in the minors wherever he ends up.

Those four have been under the 'Outside Looking In' section for awhile. The deals were agreed upon in the last few weeks (Jan. 4th for Peña). They were officially announced yesterday but reported last month. I don't wait for the 'official' word as long as reputable sources are reporting that the sides have agreed to a deal. Thanks anyways!

Jason, Aaron Bates and Lenny Dinardo didn't get invites to major league camp, so they're not really in consideration for MLB spots. And although he's on the 40-man, Tazawa is still rehabbing at the minor league complex, so he's not really in the running either.
Hey Chris. I'll be cleaning up the 'Outside Looking In' sections in the next week. The criteria for this section early on when there was almost no depth back in November included former big leaguer experience, which all three of those guys have. I'm hoping by the end of next week, 'Outside Looking In' will represent a clearer picture of the roster battles taking place and won't have guys with zero chance. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the tip on Atchison. I used a few different sources who were making educated guesses but figuring out options isn't an exact science so there is bound to be a few mistakes.
Isn't Okajima expected to make the team?
He wasn't a sure thing when camp started, coming off a disappointing season. He was out-pitched by Dennys Reyes this spring and they optioned him to the minors today.
