MLBDepthCharts.com 101

With opening day right around the corner, it's probably a good time to re-introduce MLBDepthCharts.com for new readers and anyone who might not understand exactly how the site works. Here is a quick breakdown:

Team pages for all 30 MLB teams with up-to-the-minute roster projections, player updates, other roster candidates, free agents, and minor league players you should know.

When projecting rosters, there are a few different factors that I take into account.

Players on the 40-man roster are indicated in bold.

Players ranked by Baseball America as one of the team's Top 10 prospects for 2010 are indicated with BA#?. Players ranked by Baseball Prospectus as one of the team's Top 11 prospects are indicated with BP#?.

'The Spreadsheets at MLBDepthCharts.com' is the newest feature. In addition to the information included on the site's team pages, the excel spreadsheet also includes a player's age and DOB, how the player was acquired, tally of how many homegrown players are on the projected 25-man roster, 2010 salary for each player and estimated payroll for each team, players out of options, MLB.com's Top 50 and Baseball America's Top 100 prospect rankings, and 2009 stats.

I will continue to add new information to the spreadsheet, add new spreadsheets, and make them available year-round for readers.

Other features of the website include: 'The INBOX at MLBDepthCharts.com', 'Under the Radar' Minor League Player Performances of the Week, 'Knocking Down the Door' weekly prospect report, and much, much more.

Follow MLBDepthCharts.com on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Jason,

Looks like you've caught up with all my comments for the day. Sorry about leaving so many, just trying to keep you on your toes.

I appreciate you keeping me on my toes. It's hard to keep up with 30 teams one week before rosters are to be set.

a nice help for fantasy leagues would be one spreadsheet with all official 25-man opening day rosters... auction leagues like ours that draft after opening day use the official opening day rosters for who is eligible at auction.
