Talk is the Yanks are leaning toward hitting Nick Johnson second behind Jeter.
I also use the webb site often...keep up the good work

I think there is definitely a good chance of that happening. Johnson is a good fit in the #2 spot and Granderson, who could hit 35+ HR's in 2010, might actually be a better fit in the 5 spot behind Teixeira and A-Rod. Let me know if you hear of a definite change. I'm sure both scenarios will be weighed during spring training.

Giradi said and I qoute "the 5 spot is still up in the air, maybe robbie can do it,Jorge has done it before ,but we will see."

Jason,

You don't think Thames will make this team over Russo? I think his power off the bench (very good production as a pinch hitter) is probably better than another middle infielder (their 2B/SS/3b shouldn't be missing alot of time). Russo has only 300 games in the minors; he could use the regular playing time in AAA. Thames can take Hoffman's 40 man spot at the end of spring.

All good points on Thames. Pena can back up all three IF spots and Winn can back up all three OF spots so it does make sense to go with a veteran bat to fill out the bench. Thanks!

I really doubt Cano hits fifth. It seems Girardi was reluctant to hit him up in the lineup despite his success last season.

Cashman has said Granderson will play centerfield for the sake of continuity. Implied in this is that Gardner doesn't have a permanent job as a starter. When the Yanks acquire a leftfielder in the offseason (Crawford?), Granderson will not have to switch positions again.

Re: Granderson

Saw the quote. Thanks for clearing that up!
