I know you're awfully busy right now putting out updated charts for all teams. But there are some corrections that need to be made on here.

1.) a minor one, the Reds no longer have a GCL team they now have an AZL team.
2.) you have Owings penciled in as the #5, though he will be in the mix it's fairly clear after his move to the bullpen this year (in favor of Maloney) that he will most likely be the long reliever next year.
3.) goes with #2, it would move Matt Maloney into the #5 spot. He faired pretty well there the last month (2W - 2L, ERA of 3.91, WHIP of 1.22 in 4 starts) and is the frontrunner, with Lehr, Wood, and Owings in the mix.
4.) also goes with #2/3, Carlos Fisher had a horrible second half (21 G's, ERA of 5.6, WHIP of 1.52) while Burton had a good one (24 G's, ERA of 3.8, WHIP of 1.13), Fisher should be penciled in as an "other roster candidate" right now, he is likely to start the year in AAA. Owings replaces him in the spot you have relegated to him.
5.) LHP Philippe Valiquette should be mentioned as minor leaguers you should know.

All in all, good job.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like a solid argument. I'll make sure to take a closer look at that. I always encourage corrections and disagreements from readers. I don't have time to research every team as thoroughly as I want and since there are 29 teams that I don't follow on a day-to-day basis, those that do follow a team daily would be able to offer some very good feedback.

Jason,

Just a heads up you have Corky Miller listed as a free agent. He in fact resigned a minor league deal with ST invite almost immediately after he refused his outright assignment. Though I'm not sure exactly whether it has ever been posted he is listed on the Reds official website as a ST invitee.

Jonny Gomes is the backup at 1B? I noticed he's never played there.

You're right. He's never played there in the majors. Not sure how I came up with that. Thanks!

Here’s the cuts: Jared Burton, Aroldis Chapman, Justin Lehr, Matt Maloney, Kips Wells, Travis Wood, Wilkin Castillo, Chris Burke, Drew Sutton.

Wells was released. All the others are going to Louisville.

That includes Chapman. No date has been set yet for his first start.

Aaron Miles and Wladimir Balentien are on the roster but won’t be on the team.

“They are technically still on the roster,” Walt Jocketty. “They’ve been told they will not make the club. We’re trying to trade them the next few days if we can.”

All this means Logan Ondrusek, Juan Francisco, Nix and Cairo made the team.

The Reds will re-assign Leake to minor league camp tomorrow. Miles and Balentien will be designated for assignment on Sunday. The Reds will select the contracts of Cairo and Nix then.

Anonymous said... April 2, 2010 5:28 PM

A corresponding move will then have to be made on the 11th to add Leake. Who is staying with the club but won't technically be on the roster.
